While ACTING PRESIDENT
YEMI OSIBANJO had called on the leaders across the country to speak out
against fate speeches and reverse the comment. He made the comment with the
leaders from the South –East at the presidential Villa Abuja. PROFESSOR OSIBANJO said that the meeting
was crucial because of the current speeches and devises comments emitting
across the country. He stressed that the situation required urgent attention
from all stake holders.
Subsequent to these trends, the Igala Social
Cultural Groups of Benue state Nigeria had distinct themselves from the
agitation for the declaration of state of Biafra. And the inclusion of Igala nation
on the Biafra map. The spokesman for the group MR. DAKU BARI made this known
at a news conference in Lokoja, Kogi state Nigeria. MR. DAKU BARI said that the agitation was against the spirit of fairness,
solidarity, equity, peace and co-existence, according to MR. DAKU BARI the Igala tribe of middle Belt of Nigeria believe in

Also the Federal government had again assured
Nigerians of settling the issue over the quit notice issued to Nigerians living

and also there is no need for anybody to move from any part of the country. And
while the two newly conform ministerial nominees yet to be sworn in, the minister
of information said he would confirm with liaison to National Assembly on the
matter.

Meanwhile Senate stand firm on the corporate existence of Nigeria, this is the
first time the senate had demonstrated the unity of purpose on a national issue
of this magnitude, according to the correspondent on this issue who said that the
senate had urged its members to intensify their representative roles by embarking
on sensitization campaign in their constituency to highlight the important of
peaceful co-existence, this resolution follows the consideration of a motion on
the need for national unity and peaceful co-existence in
Nigeria. Sponsored by one hundred and four (104) senators; It also urge
Nigerians to desist from Actions and utterances capable of jeopardizing the corporate
existence of the nation. While presenting the lead debate on the motion, the
senate leader AHMED LAGWARA noted that
the greatest challenge facing the country is the threat to National Unity and stressed
that various integration policies and programs of the government had yielded
some desired results but more needed to be done, some of these programs he explained
are the NYSC scheme, Federal Character principles and others not specified. SENATOR SAM representing Ebonyi North
said that Nigerians would benefit more as united country and stress the need
for government not to take the effect lightly; he also explained that the most
important agitation should be for justice and fairness. According to SENATOR SAM who also specified that he
believe in peace and unity of this country Nigeria and as a senator of federal
republic of Nigeria that they need to act to reduce the tension and the
acrimony in the society.
Also the Deputy Senate president SENATOR IKEKWEREMMADU who presided over
the session suggested for prosecution of those who are calling for disunity of
the country Nigeria. According to SENATOR
IKEKWEREMMADU who said as human we have our weak tendencies which sometime
appear to be animalistic by nature and that are why the society was set up in
the first place. And he said that within the law we have sufficient provisions
on how to guide people’s conducts and this the time the government had come out
forcefully and show enforcement of those laws. Senate also urged the securities
to prosecute anyone making inflammatory statements against the corporate
existence of the country. He also urged the federal ministry of information and
national orientation to intensify enlightenment and advocacy of loyalty to the
nation.
Finally, the minister of finance MRS. KEN ADIOSHIM said that the present administration was strategizing
to check tax evasion by Multi National companies in the country. MRS.
KEN ADIOSHIM explained that council also approved for the ministry to sign the
tax treaties for the development of the country. According MRS. KEN ADIOSHIM who specified that there are revenue generation
and revenue modernization going on in the country which she is proud of that
work and as a result, the present administration/council had commissioned them
to go and sign the convention which Nigeria is one of the G 20 countries that
negotiated for this convention. Also the minister of Transport MR. ROTIMI AMECHI said the council also
approved the completion of BARO River
Port in Nigeria state, Nigeria. On his part, the minister of Power, works
and housing MR. BABA TUNDE FASHOLLA, stated that the council ratified the construction
of the major roads between Oyo and Kwara state at the cost of N7.9 Billion (Naira), MR. BABA TUNDE FASHOLLA also said that council
approved the AFAM POWER PROJECT which will provide an additional 240 Mega Watts of power to the national
greed. According MR. BABA TUNDE FASHOLLA, he still said that
they get approval for the reimbursement to Kwara state government, Nigeria, to
undertake the construction of Karama to shud which is a road that serves the
Agricultural Boards that produces agro products between Oyo and Kwara state,
memo for the AFAM emergency fast power and which can complete 240 Mega Watts of emergency power
through its 30 Mega Watts turbans
