CURRENT ECONOMIC, POLITCAL AND SOCIAL EVENTS IN NIGERIA

The Federal Government of Nigeria has removed MR. AT ATIKU as the managing Director Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCM), and improved the second meant of AHLAJI USMAN MOHAMMED of Afric Development Bank as ATTIKU’s Successor. The statement by the permanent secretary of the power, works and Housing in Nigeria MR. LEO EDOZIEM said AHLAJI USMAN MOHAMMED appointment is part of the effort by the federal government to reposition the company for back to service of delivery. Prior to his second meant, AHLAJI USMAN MOHAMMED was the principal Power Utility Transformation Specialist in the Afric Development Bank Nigerian Office.

On the other hand, contrary to rumor that The Two year United State Visa granted to Nigeria had been cancelled. The United state government said that it is still valid. This follows the executive holders on protecting the nation on falling terrorist entry into the United State signed by PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP last week. In a news conference in Abuja, Nigeria, the United State ambassador to Nigeria said that American will not discriminate against any Nigerian on basics of Religion or Name in the country’s new Visa Regime and he also explained that the aim of the new order was not to deliberately deny anyone visa entry into the United State. But to genuinely ensure that people who want to visit, live and work in the United State; will be able to do so and to start earning.

Also the Federal government of Nigeria said that forms will be made available for the conclusion of the 11.7 Kilometer Oha offia – Oso Eda road in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebony State. The minister of power, works and Housing MR. BABATUNDE FASHOLA gave the assurance while inspecting the road at Oha offia – Eda Junction, MR. FASHOLA urged the contractor handling the project to speed up the Job, promising that his ministry will release more funds as soon as the relevant certificates were generated.

The state controller on The Federal Ministry works OLUFEMI OYEKONU regretted that the project had transits 2012 when it was awarded alongside in timely conclusion with further to enhance  economic and social  activities in the area. According to OLUFEMI OYEKONU, he said that it is not in compliance with the available resources which they set out for the project, and he specified the amount to be 1.3 Billion Naira which is the accurate amount set aside for the project but at the moment, they were able to access 400 million so far.

The representative of the firm handling the project MR. ANSELEM JIBO, applied questions from the news men and explained that about 5KM of the project had been concluded while about 2KM will be forwarded within five weeks.

Also according to the new correspondent who reports that the minister also inspected the construction of the Newer UDUMA –NGWO road.
