CURRENT EDUCATIONAL AND POLITICAL ISSUES IN NIGERIA


The Academic Staff Union of the Research Institution (ASURI) has requested for the inclusion in the list of the beneficiary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND). The Secretary General ASURI DR. THEPHILUS NDUBUAKU made the request at the presentation of the 2017 Budget public hearing organized by the National Assembly Abuja.

According to the correspondence which reports that MRS. LORATU said that unless the federal government takes bold and effective steps to get them out of  circulation, a safe thorn on flesh will not get the a desired yielding result. He acknowledged the fact that the current administration inherited the recession Nigeria was experiencing but advised them immediately to get the important aspect to pull her out it. According to MRS. LORATU, who specified that it is true that the current administration inherited the recession, and advised the federal government to be soft on taxation and instead of paying for long term diversification of the economy. The senate president BURKULAR SARAKI summon up the reasons presented by the speaker House of the Representatives and the House of the Committee Chairman on Appropriation, for the public hearing was aimed at getting more ideas on how to stabilize the economy.

 On the other hand, the acting President PROFESSOR YEMI OSIBANJO is inaugurating the national Road Safety Advisory Council. At the briefing, the minister of Budget and National Planning SENATOR UDO UDOLA said the council will be headed by the acting President. He said the government was committed towards enhancing state of lives and properties on the highways. According to him, he specified that one of the categories offenses of activities is the vehicle of the National Road Safety Management Capacity. Against this backup, United Nation Members state are expected to develop a filing document, a second ministry of National and Budget Planning working in conjunction with the federal Road Safety Corps embarked on the fact of developing a National Strategic Document for the country. The outcome of this initiative is the National Road Safety Strategic Document 2014 -2018.

Speaking on behalf of the governor of Gombe State IBRAHIM DANKWAMBO, pledged the council will deliver on his mandate. The National Road Safety Advisory Council comprising of six state governors dwells on the six Geo Political Zones of the country include governors of Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Kwara, Gombe and Kaduna States. Other members include the secretary to the government of the federation  ALBERT RABEL and Some other ministers.
Still on Education, the federal government of Nigeria has taken His Anti corruption Campaign to Primary and Secondary Schools in the country through lunching the initiatives “NEW IS THE VALUE PROJECT”, in a message to the occasion in Abuja, PRESIDENT MOHAMMADU BUHARI said that the project will educate Nigerian Children on Corruption.


According to the Reporter, he said that the valued project is designed to inculcates skills and competency by educating the younger generation on ideal and social behavior such as Exam Malpractice, Cultism, Kidnapping and MilitancyPRESIDENT MOHAMMADU BUAHRI whose message was read by the minister of State for Education PROFESSOR ANTHONY ONWUKA said if the fight against corruption started at the early stage, this a new Nigerian will be easily achieved. According to him, he said bordering on the anti corruption campaign against corruption on their administration from the perspective of our school children will sort out the nation’s issues on the corruption in the near future, he said that therefore we must all join hands to kick corruption and worthless habits out of our country Nigeria. He also said that he bears in mind that our vices are frustrated with  corrupt practices and he believe if we get it solved with tackling corruption; then we will get it in the New Nigeria.


Also Promoters of Initiatives and the executive Director Youth, health and Social Reform DR. IJEOMA ARODIEGWU explained that the project would have dropped the participatory learning and action methodologist to develop the abilities of children. DR ARODIEGWU said the organization was also partnering with Universal Basic Education Commission. Another stakeholder to ensure success of the project also said that they want to remodel the culture of the people to imbibe the right attitude helping Primary, Secondary Schools in the country; there is a curriculum enrichment component to the project. Part of the project is the setting up the Anti-corruption Clubs, Debate Groups and other activities in Nigerian Schools.
