CURRENT INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS IN NIGERIA AND EVENTS TO MARK THE WORLD WATER DAY IN LAGOS STATE AND OSUN STATE IN NIGERIA


The federal government of Nigeria had been asked to investigate the recent attack on the AMESTY International Office in Abuja by some protestant. Over twenty nongovernmental organizations described the fatal as a huge setback to freedom of expression as specified in Nigerian Constitution as well as specified by the citizens and human right activist entrenching the country. In a statement, the leader of the group MR. HOWAH ROSTER CHINESE explained that 2016 annual AMESTY International report which the protestant criticized is based on the verifiable part. He appeals to the federal government to urgently follow the findings of the 2016 AMESTY International report to set the record right. Some Protestant on Monday besieged the office of the AMESTY International Abuja; asking the Organization to quit the country within the twenty four hours or accused of some agencies of government of human right abuses.

On the Other hand, President MOHAMMADU BUAHRI has on Tuesday condemned terrorist attack made at the United Kingdom Parliament building at London. In a statement by the special adviser to the president on Media and publicity YEMI ADESHINA, the president sympathizes with the British Prime Minister; the president shows his heart to their government and also made them know that the people of Nigeria stand with them at that trial moment of their country. He made statement that the whole group must join hands to defeat the perpetrators of terrorism.

Again, The Lagos state government plans to rehabilitate the tenth federal government own waste water technical plant within the state, as an event to mark the world water day in Ikeja Lagos. The tap official of the Lagos state water corporation DR. BOLAJI OKO BALOGUN said that the proposed rehabilitation was part of effort being made to boost the supply of portable water to the people.

Finally, governor AREDESHOLA of Osun State said the state government had secured sixty-five million dollars ($65,000,000.00) loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to improve water supply in the state. Governor AREDESHOLA explained that the water would be used to the construction of water treatment plant to maintain the transmission line from AJEOLA to ILESHA, Wholesome PUMPING STATION and THREE WATER RESERVOIR on the hill. He said the state will provide counterpart plant at about forty million dollars ($40,000,000.00) for the construction of water distribution system and plantation. The state governor said that the water project will be in line with the sixth point integral action program of its project.
