IBRAHIM GARUBA is confirmed that
SENATOR DENO MELAYI graduated from
the institution in the year 2000; briefing the senate committee on the ethics
and privileges; PROFESSOR IBRAHIM GARUBA
explained from the institution’s record that SENATOR DENO MELAYI graduated as DANIEL JONAH MELAYI from the department of geography. Also SENATOR DENO MELAYI appealed before the
committee and attended all viable documents and certificates; except his first
degree certificate which he said was yet to be collected. And this serves as evidence to the spoke against
SENATOR DENO MELAYI that he did not
graduated from the AHMADU BELLO
UNIVERSITY (ABU). On a second case against the senate president; on alleged
falsified document to his SUV Range Rover, the senate president who was at the hearing,
denied having knowledge of the issue.
On the other Hand, the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called for serious meeting from
various organizations, corporate bodies and Law enforcement Agencies in working
out measure to eradicating corruption in the country. The acting chairman of EFCC MR. IBRAIM MAGU stated this during
a national anti corruption stakeholder’s summit in Abuja.
According to the news correspondent of the event who reports
that the National Anti Corruption Stakeholder’s
Summit which was held at the EFCC Academy Abuja is the first of its kind. The
summit with a theme: “Building National
Anti Corruption Consensus in a Multi Agency Environment” was aimed at building
a synergy among the agencies saddled with the statutory responsibility to fight
corruption. It was also aimed at building National Consensus in eradicating the
scorch of graft in the society, the acting chairman of the EFCC MR. IBRAHIM MAGU urged individuals in every sector to be
committed in the war against corruption, especially in the areas of Whistle Blowing, ASSET Recovery and
Management. MR. MAGU who identified corruption as the greatest challenge in
the National Development said whatever input made will be used in the anti
corruption campaign.
The Guest Speaker is the former Governor of Edo State in
Nigeria GOVERNOR ADAMS OSHOMOLE who
said that corruption was evidence in every facet of life and urged agencies to
share ideas on how to win the war against corruption. According to the governor
who also said that when one looks at the major institutional challenges; it is the
totality of those actions that are placed on the Paradox, and he said these are
those issues that our institutions are facing everyday so everybody should be
involved in the fight against corruption.
The chairman Senate Committee on anti corruption and
financial crime SENATOR CHUKWUKA UTAZI said
the fight against corruption should be waged with strategies and technical
competent; stressing that EFCC and
other Law Enforcement Agencies should have competent professionals manning the
various departments. Also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) CHIEF MIKE EZEKOME called on the
citizens to change their attitude towards corruption. According to the senior advocate
who said that if you seek and uphold the whole of Law; everything will be
added. The events attracted stakeholders from different ministries, Agencies
and organizations.
