ARTICLE WRITTEN BY ONYIA EMEKA HARFORD TITLED “BOKU HARAM”

The escalation of these gangs of coup plotters has brought about terrorism and indifference in the society and the world at large. Boku Haram is an insurgent act which originates from Moslem religious group. It is an act of Sabotage to the successive political system of the nations of the world. It is highly segregation, pessimistic and dangerous in breaking the laws and constitutions of the nations of the world.

The Boko Haram practices are more in Nigeria and Middle East than any part of the world. Apart from the attack of the world trade centre in Washington DC architected by Late OSAMA BIN LADEN (The Capital Terrorist) series of events like that had taken place in different part of the world like the abduction of 250 Chibok girls in 2014 at Bornu State Nigeria during president Good luck Jonathan’s Regime, which proved the toughest scheme to rescue situation. The Chibok girls till date were not able to break from the claws of Boku Haram, except some few lucky ones who escaped and survived the risk. The Boku Haram has today succeeded in turning most of the Chibok girls into Suicide Bombers as one Chibok girls were recently caught in the act at Cameroun.

These Boko Haram Group has believed that the female education is not necessary and should be curbed in the society, similar to what happened in Swat District of North-West Pakistan. When the Taliban banned Female Education and Malala who wrote against them became a victim of bullet shot on her head for being against them. We can see that these believe is fashioned from Islam religious practices which as well are not yet approved by their leaders. We can also see what the religious believe has done to our society.

In Nigeria, more especially In Northern Part of the country has suffered from the hand of Boko Haram. Northern Nigerian Citizens has suffered much from Boko Haram team through Suicide Bombers who sacrifice their lives to die  in the name of religious believe that: “their soul will be in a better position in the next world”. We can see what religion has done to the society. And I suggest that Boko Haram can be curb, if the people especially educational institutions in the Middle East, Pakistan and northern part of Nigeria will engage in rightfully education and brain washing these poor and illiterate Moslem Masses of the random effect of what they are about to indulge and to let them know that there is no better world anywhere as a result engaging in BOKO HARAM.

CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE SOCIETY

Using Nigeria as a case study, charitable organization has done more good than harm in the society. A lot of development today was generated from charitable source. Think of Red Cross founded in the year 1960, and its head quarter situated at Abuja. It has then about 500,000 members and 300 permanent employees.

The Red Cross Society as of today has multiplied or given birth to different major and minor societies that with the help of modern Infrastructural Developmental Equipment have created enormous changes within society and in the world at large.

Some strong members of the society is the present Governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha who has contributed immensely toward the less privileged  in the past by: Paying of school fees to those that cannot afford it, free Education, Free Medical Care, and humanitarian care especially to Northern part the country. He has also today become the President/Founder Red Cross Society in Nigeria. And has also encouraged the young ones to emulate and follow the same foot steps to achieve great status in the society.

Charitable organization in Nigeria has also created tremendous in the life of its citizen and in development of different aspect of economy as well as eradication of poverty in rural development. These charitable organization emanating from the foundational father “Red Cross Society” are as under listed:
(1)   WACOL
(2)   National Foundation On V.V.F
(3)   Niger Delta Women For Justice
(4)   New Nigeria Foundation
(5)   New Era Education And Charitable Support Initiative
(6)   Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS In Nigeria (NEPWHAN)
(7)   National Action Against Corruption
(8)   National Council of Women Society

These charitable organizations had been empowered by the Attorney General OF Federation (Minister of Justice) to operate in different specified objectives as non-governmental organization with the capacity of creating effective and positive changes in the society

Some of these non-governmental organizations need support from Federal Government of Nigeria as well as World Bank to be able and efficiently execute their duties demanded towards their citizen. As a result, some of them have imbibed in tasking one another from their source of their income in order to meet up with the expectation of their demands.
Today Nigeria is a lucrative nation, well established in different field of economy is an innovative change from some of these NGO especially Red Cross Society. Even the women Organization has  singled handedly fight for improvement of Farming in rural development as the State and Federal government supported them with bags of fertilizer and farming equipment to achieve these purpose. We are also inviting the Federal Government to increase their support toward those NGOS as this will bring about great change and development in the society.

FUEL SCARCITY IN OPEC NATIONS

OPEC means Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries like Nigeria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirate, and Libya etc. using Nigeria as a case study. We cannot recall numerous period of fuel scarcity in Nigeria. More especially PMS (Petrol) in different part of the country. Nigeria being a member of OPEC should be a true a true representative of the organization, because the beauty of every organization is accessed from the welfare standard of its members. If I am the Chief of OPEC, I will sanction Nigeria from the group for so many reasons:

One is that a country which could not provide sufficient petrol to its citizen is not qualified to be member of Organization, even if it has  it as gift or manufacturers it. Nigeria has been a victim of fuel scarcity for years. Irrespective of the fact that it is blessed with crude oil as mineral resources. Why then should the nations that are not members of OPEC better off than the members like Nigeria in economy, especially in PMS supply to its citizens? It is nothing but Poor Management. But before we should export to other countries let us sit down and share the resources to the masses in need of them at an affordable price. Then, we can step forward to negotiate with foreign countries. That Nigeria economy is bad is not an excuse for fuel scarcity. The Government has what it takes to regulates the economy to the standard, it’s suppose to be, but the bad eggs in politics will never allow the stability of economy to take place. The problem is not with the president or governors but their concubines who slaughter the economy with knife and ask who did it? It’s high time the government should sit down and look at the oil industry and Agriculture with critical eyes because that is the bed rock of the economy.

Secondly, the substandard filling Stations owned by independent marketers are also contributing immensely to the fuel scarcity in the nation. Whereby filling station management diverts the 33,000 liters of PMS, DPK or AGO loaded from refineries in Nigeria to different private marketers who are not responsible for it but demanded it at an affordable price that will pay the owner for Illegal exportation. Series of Cases like this has been experienced during Obasanjo’s regime in Eleme refinery Port Harcourt. As a result, the State Government set up monitoring teams to monitor each allocation to its proper destination. Yet this does not solve the problem as these IPMAN Filling Stations will at mid night after negotiating with those illegal buyers of PMS or DPK will still siphon back the 33,000 liters fuel tanker truck may be 3000 liters of PMS or DPK will be reserved for sale to the public. Now on the day of sale, the filling station will sell fuel for thirty minutes and close down for the day. To start the following day and continuous selling of 3000 liters. In this case only few vehicles will be lucky to get fuel out of long queue of cars. The practices continue like that:

LONG QUEUE IN A FILLING STATION

These practices are common in the eastern, western and Southern part of Nigeria, where corruption is the highest order of the day and if the Federal government overlooks the situation it will get worse in the couple of years to come. Now, The Independent Marketers Association(IPMAN) members should within themselves know that hoarding if fuel is a crime and sort out these issues within themselves before the federal government will steps in and face it squarely. And I wonder why some filling station are in operational without necessary certification clearance like Storage License from DPR, Fire Certificate from Federal or State fire service, The lifting  right and Bulk purchase documents from Petroleum Pipe Line and Marketing  Company (PPMC). When a filling Station does not possess at least two of these document. It should be sanction by DPR till further notice.

THE PLIGHT OF DESTITUTE IN ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

Enugu State being “The Coal City” of the nation is situated on a very high hill known as milking Hill in the Eastern part of Nigeria. Strangers and visitors to the state will bypass milking Hill before getting into the Urban Area of the City. The city is a platform of peaceful atmosphere which previously comprises of numerous destitute roaming the nook and cranny of the streets districts of the state in search of food and Greener pasture for daily survival.

It is an awesome experience during previous Administration that the destitute constituted nuisance in the street, begging for alms and at the same time fighting within the major expressways of different districts of the main City. As a result the Governor Sullivan Chime’s administration mad a provision for them. Now the destitute in Enugu State are sheltered and have a permanent base where they can take off in search of food for daily survival and return at the end of every daily activity to rest. These have reduced the numerous numbers destitute within metropolis, taking them away from the city to the rural Areas where life can be more comfortable and enjoying for their suitable standard of living.

The recent research and interview carried out in 2014 shows that most of the destitute roaming the street were trained from motherless baby home. Some of them on getting to maturity realize their status in the society and as a result of trying to compromise and change their identity to adapt in the environment, as well as be accepted in the society. They gets involves in all sorts of atrocities like picking pockets, cultism, Raping of Mad People, and robbing  and killing of innocent citizen in the night hours at motor park.

The Ugly experience has brought about the steps and relocation of destitute who comprises nuisance in the City to remote Area for their survival as well. Those steps the State government took have brought about changes within the metropolis. The littering of main city roads with pure water sachets and other darts of Rubbish has ceased to exist as before they were perambulating the streets and main city road. The main City road has dirty bin stands like covered plastic buckets provided by ESWAMA (Enugu State Waste Management Authority) for accommodating dirt and rubbish. The security operative has also been mandated by state government Authorities to catch and charge file for any citizen found littering the main city express road with rubbish.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The world is experiencing a newly fashioned social vice known to be human trafficking. Human trafficking as the name implies is modern slave trade of Matured and premature sets of individual in the society. This human trafficking takes different shape, but all migrates from under developed countries in Africa and Asia continent where corruption is the climatic weather of the day to day activities.

In Nigeria, Human trafficking is seen as the illegal exportation of individuals, especially young boys and girls to foreign countries like Europe and America for prostitution and Gay purposes based on signed and deceived agreement with their sponsors to pay back with the main ideal business which the sponsors sometimes hardly disclose to them.
Human trafficking involves females’ beautifully young girls, illegally travelling to Europe for prostitution, some of them has ended up their life as prostitutes in Europe, while others has lost their life in the process. The remaining ones are infected with incurable standard transmitted diseases (STD Infection) like Gonorriah, Syphilis, HIV AIDS and Sex bug. It is also pertinent to know that some of these female young girls that falls victim of such practices are because of being unaware of the type of business mission to accomplish for their sponsors in Europe and America. According to one of them interviewed in a media: she said that little did she know that her sponsors’ mission to Europe was to expose her to prostitution. She also narrated her side of experiencing prostitution in Europe with her sponsor who lodge her in a hotel and taught her the mode of sexy outfit she should always dressed up in to attract young men. And as a result, she makes more than 5000 Euros for her sponsor every day, after sleeping with more than 40 men that comes to the Hotel. According to her, she came back to Nigeria empty handed after the police caught her with expired passport, they repatriate her to Nigeria. What sad news to share?

Also human trafficking as Child trafficking is also common Nigeria, you think of the innocent Chibo Girls that were suddenly kidnapped overnight. What have those innocent children done that made them deserve those inhuman treatments from the Boko Haram group? It is out of wickedness and humiliation. Child trafficking is the highest crime recorded during President Good luck Jonathan’s Regime in Nigeria. We pray that such miss fortune will never occur the second time. A situation where the nations of world could not intervene is a serious war. Let’s the world, especially United Nations keep eyes on our Children all over the world from the inhuman threats of Boko Haram group. Malala Yousafzai born on 12 July 1997 from Mingora, a town in the Swat District of north-west Pakistan was once a victim of Talibans similar to Nigeria Boko Haram that shot her on her head while she was campaigning against them. Malala father was outspoken opponent of Taliban’s efforts to restrict education and stop girls from going to school. Malala started writing blog for BBC against Taliban. She stood with her father to fight for right of women Education in Swat District of North-West Pakistan.

The US rescue team and United Nation sent rescue team for Malala against Taliban. Now, I also encourage the efforts shown towards the rescue of this innocent brave young girl. It will encourage other young people to know their right in the time of opposition.

Human trafficking also continues as Gay practices in Europe and America. A lot Gay finds it easy to migrate to Europe and America from Africa where the Law does not support Gay Practices. And as a result many Gay are Victim of Human Trafficking to Europe where they generate money for their sponsors. Some of them become lucky at the end of the day when they meet a companion that accommodate and care for their affairs. But not withstanding you can never be free as when you are in charge of all your affairs to Europe. And let us call it a day here, as we look into the pictures of the present days Human Trafficking.

CIVILIZATION

Civilization has brought about innovative changes within Enugu State and entire Country at large. The trend of civilization started from the pre-colonization of British Master to Colonization by British Master. The coming of the Colonial masters to Africa was the beginning of Civilization in Africa at large. The amalgamation of Southern and Northern Protectorate was established by the British masters in 1914, which was a wonderful strategy that led to unity today.

The introduction of the indirect rule system which made our Presidential system of Government strong today was possible because of the coming of white men to Nigeria. This rule was successful in Northern part of the country because of the organized pre-colonial system of the Hausas community while the system failed in the Eastern part of the country but partially succeeded in the Western part of Nigeria.

Nigeria is doing fine today because of the foundation laid by the British men in Education, Economic, Social and cultural affairs of the Nation. To a learn man, British Colonial System was seen as a “divide and rule system”, I am not saying that they are wrong, but consider their positive side view. Their immense contribution to the development of Africa is something worth handshake appreciation. Our mineral was lying dormant during pre-colonial rule (before the coming of the colonial masters), no discovery, no direction, and no strong leadership amongst the Ibo tribe of the nation Nigeria. But we gain all these from white men. Despite the discrimination against the blacks in their own country by the use of fire armed gadgets to compel obedient and sanction of opposition, the light they threw into the country is still improving till date, non nations of Africa has meet up their standard. They were eye opener to us because they finally let us go free and make our own decision ourselves. I don’t know how the reader of this article will sees it. But I want you to know that no matter how people judge it the coming of the Colonial master has done us more good than bad.

Nigerians gained their Independent from the Colonial Master on the 1st October 1960. With Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe becoming the first President of Federal Republic of this great Nation Nigeria while Tafawa Belewa becoming the prime minister. The system then was parliamentary system of Government emulated from the British, which is still the current system of government in Britain. From Nigerian Independent till date, there are drastically changes to believe that civilization has taken place. These changes started first By Nigeria becoming a Republic from 1963, showing evidence of freedom. These changes also continuous till date and can be categorize in model Structures, Fashion, Refined culture, Leadership Education. Before moving further, we are going to use pictures to distinguish the differences, so we can be convinced that civilization has really grounded in Nigeria compare to what it used to be:

1.         MODEL STRUCTURES

2.         BANKING  INSTITUTION

3.          COMMUNICATION INSTITUTION (To compare to what it used to be)

2.         REFINED CULTURE

3.          GARDEN CITY (To compare to what it used to be) previous position

3.         LEADERSHIP

NATIONAL FLAG

4.         EDUCATION

(To be compared to what it used to be)

5.         GOOD ROADS

(To be compared to what it used to be)
