CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS IN THE SOCIETY

Using Nigeria as a case study, charitable organization has done more good than harm in the society. A lot of development today was generated from charitable source. Think of Red Cross founded in the year 1960, and its head quarter situated at Abuja. It has then about 500,000 members and 300 permanent employees.

The Red Cross Society as of today has multiplied or given birth to different major and minor societies that with the help of modern Infrastructural Developmental Equipment have created enormous changes within society and in the world at large.

Some strong members of the society is the present Governor of Imo State Owelle Rochas Okorocha who has contributed immensely toward the less privileged  in the past by: Paying of school fees to those that cannot afford it, free Education, Free Medical Care, and humanitarian care especially to Northern part the country. He has also today become the President/Founder Red Cross Society in Nigeria. And has also encouraged the young ones to emulate and follow the same foot steps to achieve great status in the society.

Charitable organization in Nigeria has also created tremendous in the life of its citizen and in development of different aspect of economy as well as eradication of poverty in rural development. These charitable organization emanating from the foundational father “Red Cross Society” are as under listed:
(1)   WACOL
(2)   National Foundation On V.V.F
(3)   Niger Delta Women For Justice
(4)   New Nigeria Foundation
(5)   New Era Education And Charitable Support Initiative
(6)   Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS In Nigeria (NEPWHAN)
(7)   National Action Against Corruption
(8)   National Council of Women Society

These charitable organizations had been empowered by the Attorney General OF Federation (Minister of Justice) to operate in different specified objectives as non-governmental organization with the capacity of creating effective and positive changes in the society

Some of these non-governmental organizations need support from Federal Government of Nigeria as well as World Bank to be able and efficiently execute their duties demanded towards their citizen. As a result, some of them have imbibed in tasking one another from their source of their income in order to meet up with the expectation of their demands.
Today Nigeria is a lucrative nation, well established in different field of economy is an innovative change from some of these NGO especially Red Cross Society. Even the women Organization has  singled handedly fight for improvement of Farming in rural development as the State and Federal government supported them with bags of fertilizer and farming equipment to achieve these purpose. We are also inviting the Federal Government to increase their support toward those NGOS as this will bring about great change and development in the society.
