Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers Delta State COMRADE JONATHAN JENEDDY IGBE had
rejected all call over Biometric Verification by consultancy firm, declared
over 600 teachers as Ghost Workers. COMRADE
JONATHAN JENEDDY IGBE told Newsmen in Asaba that the exercised was Mared by
irregularities.
According to the report which states that Governor IFEANYI AKOWA at the inception
of his Administration last year engaged a consultancy firm to conduct a
Biometric Verification of workers on the payroll of the Delta State Government.
The exercise was also extended to teachers under the state universal basic Education
board. The state Government believed that each monthly bill of over seven
billion Naira (N7,000,000,000.00)was
over floated, apart from the seven billion Naira monthly bills, the Delta State
government of Nigeria also augment payment of Primary school teachers’ salary
with over six hundred million naira (N600,000,000.00)
monthly. This is to inform the decision that Delta State Government would carry
out the verification to ascertain the actual work force. But the chairman of

JONATHAN JENEDDY IGBE, who said that there was nothing wrong in carrying
out such verification. All done noted that the exercise was not done properly
than the consultancy firm.
NUT chairman also attributed the lapses in the verification
to poor record keeping than the state universal Basic Education Board, all
relevant agencies and department of the government. He called on the state
government derail the consultancy firm to collect the anomaly in the
verification with a view in accommodating the teachers declared Ghost Workers
in error.

many ghost workers on the payroll of the state government; he gave assurance
that those prepared Ghost workers in error will be cleared.
