MY EXPERIENCE ON HOW I RESTORED MY DESKTOP COMPUTER DELL MODEL: OPTIPLEX GX620 BRAND

It was on the 24th of August 2016 that I boot my Desktop Computer Optiplex GX 620 Brand of Dell Model. After loading the Operating System when cool booting, on arriving where I will insert the administrative password, it will restart itself. So it could not successfully boot to Desktop windows and these remains continues process showing that the startup operating system software was corrupt. So I have to insert window7 DVD to correct the problem. But the computer could not see the DVD disc on the DVD WR which I later replaced the drive with another one.

Now after setting the Bios to boot Windows 7 from DVD Disc, I was trying to switch from booting normal to booting from DVD when I press F12 and selected DVD as option, immediately I hit the ENTER KEY from the input device which is the KEYBOARD, the whole thing on the screen went blank except a white underscore blinking cursor, the power on the Key board and mouse went off as well. I did everything possible to see that the USB Keyboard and the Mouse received light or being dictated by my system, but it could not work out. I took it to repairer who could not solve the problem as well.

After two days, I came back to the same computer with the help of a repairer we brought out the RAM from its sitting and clean it and replaced it back to its sitting. Then we use electric blower and remove some dusty part of the system units to include mother board. To my greatest surprise I powered the system; everything came back to life including the mouse and the keyboard. I have to continue with the repair myself from this point because the repairer is not well experience in software programming. Now I insert another Windows 7 DVD disc to run installation and correct the startup problem. But the Repair operation System in windows 7 DVD inserted was not compatible with the existing Operating System in my DELL SYSTEM. So I have to go to nearby Computer Accessory dealer and purchased WINDOWS 7 DVD DSIC which has 32 and 64 bit systems and I inserted it now right inside my room to run the installation repair.

When I began with the repair, it was not an easy one like normal installation process. I have applied professionalism to correct that startup corrupt operating system which ordinary startup repair could not correct. Now the process of correcting this problem advanced as followed:

I have to Undergone Dual Boot:
During the first booting, after inserting the WINDOWS 7 DVD and switching successfully from Booting normal to Booting from DVD Drive by pressing F12 and using the arrow key to arrive to the main menu as well as selecting it with Enter Key. I arrived in an environment where there are options to set Language, I have to set the language options and click next on the menu as well. Remember I am booting from the DVD WINDOWS 7 Disc. The next action I precede after the next option appeared was to click on SYSTEM REPAIR from three opting presented in that environments. Now the SYSTEM REPAIR option now searched for valid operating System and reports that “Windows found problem with your computer start up option? Do you want to apply repair and restart your computer? Then I clicked repair and restart and reboot again to window 7 repair environment.

Now this time I have to click next at the Keyboard selection prompt and when the SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTION screen appeared. I have to select from the options “Use recovery tools that can help fix problem starting windows. So, I first selected system Restore, after completing the process and restarted, on the second boot to the same options I have to select “COMMAND PROMPT”.

Now trying to fix this startup error with specific MS DOS command became relevant and the main problem solution to this error repair installation. So, on the COMMAND PROMPT environment which is MS-DOS I have to type the following command to fix the error:
X:\Source>CD..                                 (THIS MEANS CHANGE DIRECTORY)
X:\>                                                     (PREVIOUS COMMAND WILL BRING YOU HERE)

Then type the next command:
X:\>bootrec.exe /Fixmbr
The operation completed successfully

The computer will display the above message as confirmation after issuing the second command and the message is “The operation completed successfully”

The third Command goes like this:
X:\>bootrec.exe /Fixboot
The operation completed successfully

The computer will still display the above message as confirmation after issuing the third command and the message is “The operation completed successfully”

The final command issued was:
X:\>bootrec.exe /RebuildBCD
Scanning all disks for windows installations please wait since this may take a while…

The above message “Scanning all disks for windows installations please wait since this may take a while…” is displayed by your system after issuing the last command. Then after sometimes the computer will still respond with the under listed statement:

Successful scanned windows installations.
Total Identified windows installation: 0
The operation completed successfully
X:\>

Then I have to close the command prompt environment and click the first option from the options displayed from the INSERTED CD which is startup Repair option

The first repair process may take sometimes like 2 hours depending on the capacity of your Hard disk, mine took 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the first round. So I have to wait until the process was completed; at which  I saw the messages telling me that:
(1)             Startup repair cannot repair the window automatically. And we need to note that these messages are as are result of the radical changes made by removing other drive. I ignored the send or not send option that appeared as I proceed to close the message from “X” BUTTON in the upper right corner of the Send/Don’t Send window.
(2)             Then view advanced options for system recovery and support option and from the main menu once again click “STARTUP REPAIR” the second time. This time the process may take few seconds to complete and when prompted :

“START UP REPAIR COULD NOT DETECT A PROBLEM”

Click finish and run the final “startup repair” again from the option. After this last one click finish and remove the system repair DVD and Restart. Your system will boot to windows completely without error.
