Governor OKEZIE IPKEAZU of Abia State in Nigeria
said Poverty remains the major causes of corruption and other social vices in
the society. He stated this when the group of senior executives paid to aide with
the nations institute policy and strategic studies groups co visit in Umuahia.
National
institute for Policy and Strategic studies is a federal parastatal touched with
the responsibility of research and dialogue on key national issues. Everywhere the
institute organizes a 10 months course for participants’ right from both the
public and private sectors to conduct research on a topic of national important
as directed by the presidents. This year, the president chose poverty reduction
as a topic. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu described the choice of the topic as an apt
and expect the hope that the effort of the institute and proper strategies that
will help address the problem.
He called
for re-orientation amongst the openings to the positive value inherent in their
culture, through do we introduction of Civic Studies in the Educational curriculum.
The leader of the Group BASIL DIM OUSMAN
explained that in line with the president’s directives, the team of the senior
executive course 38 is “strengthening institution mechanism for poverty
reduction and inclusive development”. MR.
OUSEMAN said part of the programme of activities was a study activities where the
participant were divided into groups to visit a state in the Northern and
southern part of the country. He noted that at the end, the inputs from the
states will be collected and be discussed as the guide the formulation of policy
for poverty eradication. MR. OUSEMEN thanked the governor and the people of the
state for the warm reception and corporation and hope that the exercise would
be of the benefit to both the state and the institute.
