In order to stop incessant race Farmers clashes, the Ondo
state Police Command has directed Cattle rears to be registered and be issued
with an Identity Card. The State Commissioner of Police Mrs. Ibra Difero Harrison gave these directives in Akure at
the Stake Holders meeting with the two appointees, Lakia Adekitan points that stake holder will sue band and alleged
from grazing
According to Reporter who said that Ondo State is one of
the States in the country that is experiencing Incessant Clashes between
Farmers and Herds men while the dilemmas of such incident was the alleged killing
of Security Guard of Chief Olufelayi at
his farm last week but the deceased was a member The Odua People’s Congress (OPC) before his death. The Ondo State
Commissioner of Police Mrs. Ibra Difero
Harrison convened at the stake holders meeting in Akure with the
representatives of Fulani and Housa community and local farmers in attendance addressing
the meeting Mrs. Difero Harrison directed
that the use of under age for rearing of cattle will no longer be allowed by
the security agent in the state to prevent the undue destruction of farmland.
The Police Commissioner said the measures of identifying
the herdsmen will be done before the local government areas through their
leaders of Housa/Fulani Community and
traditional rulers. In the solution on behalf of the local farmers, the state
chairman of the Agricultural Commodity Association Mr. Akioloki demanded
late grazing should also be burn to save the state from food shortage this
year. The chairman Ariwa Community in Ondo West and its Environ Alhaji Imam Abdulahi and Mallam Balla Imam from Akoko area expressed their readiness
to support various state to end crises between farmers and herdsmen.
The Stake holder meeting was attended by leader of
meatiala, Farmers and Security Chiefs from across the 18 local government area
of Ondo State.
