THE WATER RESOURCES PROJECT IN NIGERIA


The Minister of water resources Mr. Solomon Adamu resort to corporate with the situation of immunization in the country and vowed on water and sanitation infrastructure, to promote a more hygienic environment. The minister gave the talk at the 2016 Water Rate Policy dialogue to achieve the sustainable development goal sets to mark its 20 years of its existence in Nigeria.  Mr. Solomon Adamu said awareness was key to achieving more hygienic environment for the nation. Hence, the need for synergy between the government and private sector to actualize the goal is necessary.

According to the reporter since 1995 water air began work in Nigeria and has over the years reach 2 million people with safe water, basic sanitation and hygiene. So far six states have benefited in the juncture and they are: Bauchi, Enugu, Ekiti, Jigawa and Plateau. And in the occasion of this 20th Anniversary water Aid organized a policy dialogue, achieving sustainable development goal 6; integrating water sanitation and hygiene washed in a wider development which had maintenance stake holders across the country.


The minister of water resources Mr. Solomon Adamu said the Federal government has improved access to water coverage by 69% in 2015. The minister stressed the need for revitalization of washed project through awareness creation and called the corporate organizations to support in branding them. Mr. Solomon Adamu assured the harmonization of the washed police and program towards enhancing a conducive living environment for Nigerians. The Country representative: water Aid Nigeria Dr. Michael Ojo called for improved funding and commitment to water, sanitation and hygiene project in the country.

Participants of the events commended water Aid Nigeria for the strives in the past 20 years and called for more effort towards enhancing the well being of the Nigerians. The commissioner of water resources in Benue State was one of the beneficiary of water resources project Mr. Nicholas Wunde  said state government will continue to collaborate with private sector  providing portable water for the people in the rural area.


The promised dialogue is expected to increase stake holder’s understanding of the prospect and challenges of meeting goal six water sanitation hygiene in the country.
