According to
the reporter, one of the mandates of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON)
is to ensure that the only goods that meet requirement of the relevant Nigerian
Industrial Standard are in the market. The organization in plateau state
Nigeria has raided several Electronic shops selling substandard and electrical
cables to unsuspected members of the public. In an operation led by the state
coordinator of the organization, MUSA
JUDGE, a violate of the electrical cable that fail the test was confiscated.
JUDGE said the real exercise came at
a time the federal government allowed Nigerians to patronize with a Nigerian
product. This cease to discourage the faith Nigerian has in foreign goods which
are more often and more substandard and dangerous.
Some of the
shop owners who showed very little or no resistance; however have different opinion
on where the problem lies. Men will be
the thorn of the manufacturers who refuse to conform to the minimum industrial requirement.
