THE EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA SAID THAT OVER EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND STUDENTS ARE RECEIVING TREATMENT AGAINST TROPIC HOLD DISEASES IN THE STATE

The Ebonyi State government said that over eight hundred thousand students are receiving treatment against tropic hold diseases in the state, the state commissioner for health DR. DANIEL UMEZURUIKE announced this while addressing Newsmen in Abakaliki the capital of Ebonyi state in Nigeria.

According to reporter from Abakaliki who narrated the events said the four main neglected tropic hold diseases are: Skistosomiasis, Unconsosiasis, Lymphatic clearriasis and Soil transmitted ementiasis, according to  DR. DANIEL UMEZURUIKE mass administration for the control of the diseases commenced in 2014, following an endemic survey carried out in 2013, he pointed out the administration of the drugs was on going in over 300 schools in EZZA SOUTH, IFO and ABAKALIKI  Local Government Areas of the State. He also urged parents to support Government effort towards eradicating the diseases. Still according to him, he said that if the treatments of the diseases are neglected, it will keep on spreading to other children but if it is treated the circulation will reduce and there will be peace in the city.

DR. DANIEL UMEZURUIKE stated that the ministry will henceforth obtain the consent of affected school and as well as advise parents and school children on the possibility of severe adverse effect of the drugs and what to do on such rare occurrence. Still according to DR. DANIEL UMEZURUIKE he said that the administration of the drug is very critical and the only solution is to measure the height of the people affected and merge it with the number of apartment he/she is supposed to pay.

DR. DANIEL UMEZURUIKE also explained that an incident involving 18 students of a private school who suffered a drug reaction after being treated of the diseases was an isolated case as investigation revealed that many of them were fasting when the drug was ministered on them and that will serve as a caution to other that will partake in the treatment.
